Week 3: Chapter 5, 6, 7
📚 What I Learned on Week 3 – Consumer, Organizational & Global Marketing
This week, I studied Chapters 5, 6, and 7 from my Marketing course. These chapters helped me understand how different people and companies make buying decisions — and how marketing works in other countries too.
🛍️ Chapter 5 – Understanding Consumer Behavior
This chapter showed me how people decide what to buy. There are five steps in the purchase decision process:
-
Problem recognition
-
Information search
-
Evaluation of options
-
Purchase
-
Post-purchase behavior
I also learned that things like motivation, attitudes, and family can affect how we shop. For example, I noticed I always check reviews before I buy something online—that’s part of the evaluation step!
🏢 Chapter 6 – Understanding Organizations as Customers
Companies also buy things, but they do it differently than regular people. There’s something called a buying center, where different people (like buyers, users, and decision-makers) are involved. For example, in a hospital, the doctor may choose the medical equipment, but someone else makes the final purchase.
🌍 Chapter 7 – Global Marketing
This chapter helped me learn how businesses sell their products in other countries. They have to think about culture, language, laws, and money systems. For example, a U.S. food company might need to change flavors for customers in Asia. I also learned about market entry strategies like exporting or working with local companies.
💡 Final Thought
These chapters showed me that marketing is not just about selling — it’s about understanding people, companies, and cultures. Whether the customer is one person or a big organization, knowing how they think is the key to success in marketing.
